WORKING OUR LAND, FIGHTING FOR OUR RIGHTS

The campaign continued to focus on land use and in particular how mining can affect the land and making it more difficult for food production and growing livestock.  Postcards  were signed asking the government to implement the recommendations from the National Roundtables on Corporate Social Responsibility and the Canadian Extractive Industry in Developing Countries and make mining companies accountable for their actions abroad. The postcards signed in our Parish were sent to the office in Toronto to join with others that will be presented to the Prime Minister by D & P staff.  Our MP, Tony Martin, received the white postcards on January 6th 2009. Being informed in advance, he will be able to follow-up when the Prime Minister receives the postcards.
